Choosing the right Guest Bed
In many houses there is a spare room which is often used as a guest room. The type of bed you choose could depend greatly on how many guests you actually have to stay overnight, or in most case, what else you use the spare room for.
If most of your guests only stay for the visit and then return home then this will determine how you will want the guest bedroom to function. If the guest bedroom is to be used for other purposes such as a study, then the guest bed needs to be different to having a guest bedroom, specifically designed for guests only. If the guest bedroom is to be used only for guest sleeping then the bedroom could be laid out with one or two single beds. If you choose divan beds they could either be used individually or zipped together to make a double bed. This allows you to give your guests the choice of either sleeping in single beds or in a double bed. If the guest bedroom is to have a double use, such as a study, then it might be useful to have a bed that is a sofa during the day but can be converted into a bed when guests arrive. This will make the best use of the bedroom especially if the number of bedrooms is limited.
When choosing a guest bed it may not be necessary to spend quite as much as a bed for the main bedroom because they will only be used occasionally and not every night as with your main bed. If the spare bedroom is going to be used as a study as well as a guest bedroom, a sofa bed might be the ideal answer, then the costs could be a great deal more as it will be used not only to sleep on occasionally but as a piece of furniture to sit on.
When choosing a bed for the guest bedroom it will also be important to choose the right type of mattress.. As your guests could have very different requirements it is advisable to choose a mattress that is not too soft or too hard. It will not be possible to suit everybody but a mattress that is of average firmness would be the best alternative. The most important thing is to make sure that the bed frame supports the mattress correctly and there is no dip in the middle of the bed.
Choosing a divan bed for a guest room has a number of advantages, one of which is that they are usually very easy to move as they are generally lighter than a wooden or metal bed. This helps when it comes to changing the bed linen. Another advantage of the divan bed is that they usually have storage facilities built into the base of the bed. This is ideal for storing spare bed linen for the guest bed. When choosing a new bed for a guest room, consideration of how the bedroom will be used will be the prime factor in deciding what type of bed is the most suitable.
