Are you waking up in the morning
feeling less rested than when you went to bed? Do you toss
and turn through the night? Can you feel the springs when
lying on the mattress? If you answered yes to these questions,
you may need to think about purchasing a new bed and mattress.
Buying a new bed and mattress may feel a bit daunting but
if you follow the simple steps below, you should be able to
pull through the experience unscathed and with a good night's
sleep.
1. Find yourself a reputable merchant by asking friends and
family for suggestions.
2. Ask the proprietor of the establishment to let you try
out mattresses of different firmness as mattresses typically
fall into the categories of soft, medium, and firm.
3. Take your time lying on mattresses of different firmness.
Lying in different positions for at 10 to 15 minutes will
help you see if the mattress fits your body, if it is too
hard and you feel uncomfortable or if it is too soft and you
can get comfortable, or if it is just right. Don't be
embarrassed about lying around. You are in search of a good
night's sleep.
4. Look for a mattress that fits you. If you share your bed
with a partner, be sure your sleep isn't disturbed by
close quarters.
5. Don't buy cheap, unless that is all you can afford.
A good sleep may cost a bit more.
