We have all heard in the news
about how bed bugs are making their homes in hotel mattresses.
In turn, the individual sleeps in the hotel’s bed, comes
home, sleeps in their own bed, and the next thing they know
they have a bed bug problem. These little pests have made
such an incredible come-back, that many different preventive
methods have been developed. However, most of the time the
pest control professional ends up having to tell the homeowner
that the expensive mattress bought last fall has to go.
That is why bed bug mattress covers have been developed. They
prevent you from having to throw away that super expensive
mattress in case a bed bug outbreak occurs in your home. A
cotton hypo-allergenic mattress cover that zips with a thread
count of around 300 will definitely do the job, but that can
actually get a little expensive. There are, however, linen
stores and various other retailers that sell mattress and
box spring covers that deter bed bugs from attaching themselves
to the mattress. Bed bugs like to hang out around the edges
and in the crevices, so by restricting access to those areas,
the bed bug will not make its home there because it cannot.
So if you are one who has just bought a really expensive mattress,
it might be a good idea to protect the investment by taking
a trip down to the linen store or local department store to
find a bed bug mattress cover that will keep the bed bugs
away.
