I’m sure that everyone has
woken up one morning to a crick in their back or to be stiff
and sore from a good nights sleep but have you ever stopped
think exactly how your mattress affects your back?
A good or bad mattress directly affects your spine and therefore,
your entire back and neck. A study by the Oklahoma State University
found that people who suffered from persistent back pain and
switched mattresses found an immediate and significant difference
in how they slept and how much better their back felt.
When your mattress is too hard, it is like sleeping on the
floor where your spine has to conform to the flat surface
even though it is supposed to be slightly curved. A mattress
that is too soft, gives you the opposite problem where your
spine becomes too curved and it becomes uncomfortable in a
totally different way.
The ideal mattress is one that is not too firm and not too
soft either. You want to have a mattress that conforms to
your body but doesn’t sag. When you are looking for
a mattress, make sure that you test them out. You may find
that it takes a little while to find the right one that works
for your body but in the long run, it is definitely worth
it. You can never go wrong with a good mattress.
