Take a few minutes to answer the
questions below to see if it is time to change mattresses.
1. Do you wake up in the morning feeling tired, stiff and
sore?
2. Do you think you are sleeping worse than a few months ago?
3. Does your mattress show signs of wear and tear?
4. Do you toss and turn trying to get comfortable?
If you answered yes to any of these it may be time to consider
a new mattress.
Mattresses wear out just like everything else. A change in
quality of sleep is a warning sign. When a mattress will need
replaced depends on a number of factors.
Some variables affecting the durability of a mattress include:
how often the mattress is used (everyday or occasionally),
how well it is cared for (used it as a trampoline?), and the
mattresses original quality.
You can expect a good quality mattress to last 8 to 10 years
with average use. When you purchase a mattress, ask the proprietor
to give you information about the durability of the mattress
and the warranty information. Both of these pieces of information
will tell you how long the mattress should last.
After you make your mattress purchase, check it out every
couple of months to be sure it is not sagging or becoming
lumpy. Your body ought to be telling you these things but,
you might be able to catch a faulty mattress before it affects
your sleep.
