Choosing the Right Double Mattress
Choosing the right double mattress will depend on where the mattress will be used and who will be using it. The main reason to have a double bed and mattress is generally that the bedroom is too small to fit a larger bed into. The ideal size for a bed in a bedroom is that there is adequate space either side of the bed. If the bedroom can only accommodate a double bed then it is satisfying to know that a double mattress can adequately sleep two people in reasonable comfort.
Generally double mattresses are made up of many layers of material and various fillings. These fillings can include pocket springs, synthetic materials, cotton, latex, polyester and memory foam. When choosing a double mattress you should also take into consideration the firmness of the mattress. Mattresses that are too firm can cause backache in the morning, whereas a mattress that is too soft may not give the correct support to your body during the night. It is essential therefore to choose a mattress that gives you the right amount of support for your whole body and not cause problems at certain points like your shoulder or hips resulting in pressure points. If you do suffer from back pain then memory foam mattresses are found to be the ideal solution as they mould to the shape of your body giving the same support to every part.
Pocket spring mattresses are also very popular as the individual springs react to your body without disturbing your partner in the bed beside you. There are now pocket spring mattresses that also include a layer of memory foam giving you the best of both worlds. If you had to choose a double mattress for you and your partner it must be remembered that the amount of bed space available to each of you is only 2ft. This can be quite a significant change from sleeping in a single bed when you would have 2'6". As a rule of thumb, it is always advisable to purchase the best mattress you can afford, especially if you are sharing it with a partner. If the double mattress you buy is not very supportive then it may cause you to roll together during the night giving you a very disturbed night`s sleep. A pocket spring mattress or memory foam mattress helps to overcome this problem by allowing you to sleep securely on your own side of the bed.
If it is possible it is always a good idea to purchase a double mattress for a child's bedroom. As the child grows they will fit more comfortably on a double mattress well into their later years. A guest bedroom is usually much smaller than a main bedroom but will quite often be needed to accommodate two people; therefore buying a double mattress would obviously meet this requirement. This could mean that you could let either a single person or a couple use the bedroom. The double mattress you choose for the guest room need not be as expensive as for the main bedroom as it will not be used anywhere near as often. The mattress should, however, be of reasonable quality as you don`t want your guests having an uncomfortable night`s sleep. When buying a double mattress you should take into account all these factors as the mattress is likely to have to last a good number of years and in some cases up to 10 years. Always purchase the best mattress you can afford as it will not only be more reliable but also give you a better night's sleep.
Choosing the right 4ft Double Mattress
The Mattress is the most important part of any bed. Although you want the bed to be the centre piece in your bedroom you want it to be stylish and fit into the décor, it is the Mattress that is going to ensure that you will get a good nights sleep, which is the primary purpose of the bed. There are many styles of mattress, each style being a different type.
Mattresses come in various `hardness` from very soft to very hard. When choosing how firm you consider ideal, you should always take into account the weight and size of you and your partner if you intend to share a bed. A mattress that is too soft can end up giving you back ache and if it too firm then it will not give adequate support to all parts of your body equally. Mattresses are now made in various ways including standard filling, pocket spring and memory foam. Each of these types of mattress has its own unique properties. The standard filling mattress is usually the cheapest style and could be suitable if you have very little money or you want it for a Guest room that will only be used infrequently.
Pocket Spring Mattresses are now the most common form of mattress. The Pocket Spring Mattress is made using many hundreds or even thousands of small metal springs inside the mattress covered with soft material, so you do not feel the springs. This type of mattress has many advantages in that each spring reacts to the individual part of the body giving support where it is needed. This is ideal in that because they are individual springs any movement on one side of the bed will not affect a partner on the other side of the bed. The latest Pocket Spring Mattresses have two layers of springs, the top layer being about one third the size of the other layer of springs. This will give the mattress an extra layer of comfort and support and is well worth seeking out when choosing a mattress for comfort and support. This type of mattress must not be turned as it must always have the mini springs at the top.
A further type of mattress is called Memory Foam. There are two very important considerations before choosing a Memory Foam Mattress. They are, how comfortable it is and how durable it is. In Memory Foam Mattresses the density of the Memory Foam determines the firmness of the mattress. The advantage of Memory Foam Mattress is that they mould to the shape of your body when you lie on it, therefore giving equal support to all parts. When you get out of bed the mattress will return to its original shape overcoming any need to turn it.
When choosing a mattress, firstly make sure that it has the firmness that will give you the correct support for both you and your partner. If however you and your partner require different firmness of mattress, it might be advisable to have two different mattresses which are smaller and zip them together to form one mattress giving each of you the ideal sleeping surface for a good night`s sleep.
