Wife kicks husband out of bed for 'attacking' her

A wife has kicked her husband out of their bed because he keeps attacking her after he developed a rare condition which causes him to violently act out dreams.

Derek Barfoot, 75, suffers from parasomnia and has punched his wife Elaine, 47, in the face and back on two occasions while they have been asleep.

The first attack happened four months ago and since then he has also tried to break her arm after dreaming he was being attacked by someone with a knife.

Elaine said: "Now we can't sleep in the same room because I'm scared that he might try to kill me in his sleep or cause me a lot of pain."

After consulting a doctor Derek is now having tests to determine the best course of treatment for him.
