Sleepless women 'stressed by money and health concerns'

A Tempur mattress may be one way for women who are stressed because of worries about their family's health to get a better night's sleep after a survey has revealed that nearly half lie awake at night.

According to research by Bupa UK Health Insurance, 49 per cent of females say they are suffering from sleepless nights because of financial situations and concerns about the wellbeing of both themselves and their loved ones.

These figures are higher than those for men which show that four out of ten males say they are stressed in their everyday lives or have trouble dropping off.

Dr Paula Franklin, deputy medical director for Bupa UK Health Insurance, said: "Women are certainly bearing the brunt of Britain's stress both at home and in the workplace and the situation is being worsened by the impact of the credit crunch."

She added that "looking after your health and wellbeing must be a priority".
