Natural remedies preferred by those who cannot sleep


People who have troubling dropping off in their bed at night prefer natural remedies when it comes to finding ways to aid them in their quest for sleep.

A national sleep study involving over 1,000 people was conducted for Hylands and it discovered that 50 per cent of respondents found natural medicines to be effective sleep aids.

Furthermore, people said they felt safer taking this kind of medication rather than other over-the-counter products.

Second to natural products, medicines recommended by doctors were also believed to be effective with a relative guarantee of safety.

Dr Alcibiades Rodriguez MD, medical director of the New York University Sleep Institute and assistant professor of neurology at NYU School of Medicine spoke about natural sleep remedies.

He said: "There are many ways that people can help themselves achieve a better night's sleep naturally, so as not to interfere with their body's natural rhythm."
