Napping 'could improve sophisticated memory'
Scientists have conducted a new experiment looking at the quality of sleep, as this is now deemed to be as important as the amount of time people get resting on their comfy mattresses.
It is now thought that taking a nap could help develop a new type of sophisticated memory.
In an experiment, English-speaking college students were taught a list of Chinese words before half of them were asked to take a nap, being monitored to make sure they did not enter the REM stage of sleep.
Upon waking, they then took a test looking at Chinese words and those who had been to sleep faired significantly better.
D. William Fishbein, a cognitive neuroscientist at the City University of New York, said: "Not only do we need to remember to sleep, but most certainly we sleep to remember."
Those looking to boost their memory with a good night's sleep may choose to purchase a Tempurmattress as their memory foam technology can mould to the user's body shape and ensure a comfortable rest.
