Take That helping send babies to sleep

Parents are moving with the times and choosing rock and pop songs as an alternative to traditional lullabies to get their children to sleep, a new survey has revealed.

The research, conducted by The Baby Website, found that Take That's hit single Patience was the most popular song chosen by mothers to get their child off to sleep, the BBC reports.

In second and third place were Angels by Robbie Williams and I Kissed A Girl by Katy Perry respectively.

Kathryn Crawford, a spokesperson for The Baby Website, said: "I expect most mums put the radio on when at home with the baby and the catchy lyrics make it impossible to sing anything else at bedtime."

Two-thirds of mothers questioned in the poll said they thought pop songs were more effective than traditional lullabies at getting their child to sleep.

In related news, Good to Know claims that spending time doing a relaxing activity such as reading before bedtime can help youngsters drift off to sleep.
