Wool solves sleep-loss caused by worry
Worries about money and the credit crunch mean that one in four people are finding it difficult to sleep every night, new research has revealed.
According to the British Sleep Council, job uncertainties are also contributing to a poor night's rest in bed for many who slept soundly a year ago.
As a result, some Britons are now resorting to medication to help them sleep because they are feeling stressed and tired.
However, it has been discovered by Hull University's Department of Psychology that drugs may not be needed as having a woolen blanket gives people more stage four sleep than a synthetic duvet.
Stage four is the most restful period of sleep and it is when the body regenerates and recuperates to leave a person feeling healthy and refreshed in the morning.
A panel at the Institute of Medicine recently claimed that hospital medical and surgical residents should work no longer than 16 hours without a five-hour sleep break.
