Tempur was given this accolade on the basis of its percentage turnover, export and employment increases, as well as its percentage growth in net income.

The company's capital growth, turnover per employee and profit margins were also considered before Tempur was given the award.

Following this success, for the next four years the firm remained in the top ten fastest growing companies.

After 1999, high turnover meant that it exceeded the maximum amount and could no longer be nominated.
