How to create the perfect bed

Anyone wanting to give their partner a treat on Valentine's Day should get out their iron and spruce up their bed, it has been claimed.

According to the St Petersburg Times, "sinking into a bed dressed with ironed sheets is one of life's great luxuries".

The newspaper furthers that once the sheets are luxuriously smooth, the bed should be made with attention paid to detail.

Once the basic sheets and pillow cases have been added, an extra blanket can be put on top with the sheet folded over it to add an extra contrasting layer.

For those who have a duvet to snuggle under in bed, the publication suggests folding it in half or thirds at the end so it looks "fluffy", before adding extra pillows.

Finally, some extra decoration such as flowers or a candle should be placed on the bedside table to complete the perfect bed.

UKTV Homes suggests that anyone decorating a guest bedroom should fold matching-coloured towels for their visitors on the bottom of the bed.
