Marital status 'affected by quality of sleep'
The quality of sleep a person receives in bed every night could have an impact on their marriage, it has been claimed.
According to the British Snoring and Sleep Apnoea Association, there is a link between couples' sleeping patterns and their marital status, as well as the health of the individuals.
This is because a poor rest in bed can lead to insomnia and bad health, meaning people with a partner who snores are three times as likely to visit their doctor than those who do not.
Marianne Davey, director of the British Snoring and Sleep Apnoea Association, said: "Sleep disorders have a profound effect on a relationship. They impact on marital quality, which in turn predicts an array of health outcomes, i.e. poor relationship/poor health."
A recent survey conducted by the Sleep Council revealed that the average adult goes to bed between 22:00 and 23:00.
