As part of National Bed Week the Sleep Council has offered advice on how to choose the most comfortable beds and mattresses for the ultimate winter lie-in, but what of those poor souls who don't have the luxury of a lazy morning?
Now the organisation has come up with another set of guidelines - this time to help people persuade themselves from the comfort of their Tempur memory foam mattress, or classic French Sleigh bed to face the day's work.
Top of the list is not to switch the alarm off until you are out of bed and fully awake - or at least to remember the snooze button.
It also recommends using a low bedside light and making sure the heating has been on long enough to warm the house before you get up to lessen the shock factor.
Tempting yourself with the thought of a warm cup of tea is another useful suggestion, along with returning to bed to drink it - with the radio switched on to avoid a sleep relapse.
The council recommends that those who find they still have trouble rising after following all the above advice check whether it is time for a new bed or mattress, such as a Willis and Gambier or Vi Spring, as difficulty getting up can be a sign of troubled sleep.
Classic Bed Company is the UK's premier bed store for ultimate comfort and luxury offering Tempur, Vi Spring, Willis and Gambier and French Sleigh beds.
