Well that's exactly what one Dutch student has managed to do - earning 4,643.78 euros (£3,567) in the process.
Yde Van Deutekom, 22, has so far been in bed for 21 days and is quoted by ananova.com as saying: "Everyone is asking what I want to do with me life, but what I really want to do is sleep."
By selling advertising space on his website the young man has been able to realise his dream - and with approximately 487,670 hits so far, his website has proved a dream come true for advertisers.
Mr Van Deutekom leaves his bed only to go to the bathroom or get something to eat - which will leave many parents wondering what makes him any different to the average teenager.
March may well be the Sleep Council's National Bed Month but even if Mr Van Deutekom has the excuse of a bed as comfortable as a Willis and Gambier or a mattress half as luxurious as a Tempur, many will still think he's off in a dream.
