In honour of National Bed Month the Sleep Council has released the results of a new survey showing which beds are the British public's favourites.
The research reveals 30 per cent now boast the luxury of pocket spring technology found in such brands as Vi-Spring, while 11 per cent have invested in a memory foam mattress brand such as Tempur to ensure a restful sleep.
A health-conscious 32 per cent of those surveyed also insist on sleeping on a bed less than five years old.
Jessica Alexander of the Sleep Council commented: "People [
] understand that a decent, regularly replaced bed equals a decent night's sleep."
Bedsteads narrowly pip the classic divan style by 40 percent to 39 percent as the most popular style of bed.
Conducted by tickbox.net, 1,408 people were surveyed as part of the Sleep Council's research.
The Sleep Council is the UK's leading advisory body on all things sleep-related, offering advice on a range of subjects from getting to sleep to selecting the right bed.
