A leading American mattress specialist has offered advice for teens on getting a good night's sleep.
According to 2004 research by the National Sleep Foundation, 85 per cent of American teens do not get enough sleep, leading to problems such as obesity, schoolwork issues and an increased risk of injury while playing sports.
April Vance, ergonomic specialist and owner of Tennessee bed chain Relax the Back, commented: "Sleep deprivation is showing up in children as young as five and parents are seeking help to turn the problem around."
Ms Vance recommends investing in a good mattress as a priority for supporting children's growing bodies, with Relax the Back stocking several single-size and extra-long top brands including the ultra-supportive Tempur memory foam mattress.
Additional advice includes removing electronic accessories such as computers to communal rooms, setting a routine for children and ensuring they get plenty of exercise during the day, the website reports.
UK stockist Classic Bed Company stocks two sizes of single mattress in a variety of leading brands including Tempur and Vi Spring.
Classic Bed Company is the UK's premier bed store for ultimate comfort and luxury offering Tempur, Vi Spring, Willis and Gambier and French Sleigh beds.
