Newlyweds Carla Bruni and French president Nicholas Sarkozy arrived in UK for a state visit yesterday - and raised some eyebrows with their preferred sleeping habits.
The president and the ex-supermodel first lady were dressed to impress, but many wondered whether they would follow custom completely, This is London reports.
Tradition dictates the couple should follow the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh's lead at Windsor Castle during their stay and sleep apart.
However, former royal press secretary Dickie Arbiter tells the website: "There are double beds in both rooms, so if they want to sleep together - and I would imagine from what I hear about them that they would - then they can do so."
Mr Sarkozy remained tight-lipped on the subject, but has previously commented on his flamboyant reputation, saying: "If the only criticism people have to level at me is on style, then obviously there is nothing on substance."
