A US interior design consultant has offered mattress buyers advice on what to look for in order to secure the perfect night's sleep.
Heather Craig of Heather Craig Interior Design and Consulting in Reno, Nevada advises troubled sleepers that the foundation of a good night's rest is always the mattress, according to News Leader.
She tells the website: "You spend a third of your life in bed and a lot of times even more.
"Spend the money and do the research and get a good mattress above and beyond anything else."
She adds that those on the mattress trail should dress in similar clothes to their night time attire and always test the mattress by lying in their most common sleep position.
Ms Craig also advises high thread-count bedding for extra comfort, along with heavy curtains to ensure total darkness when trying to sleep, the website states.
This advice follows recent research by UK advisory body the Sleep Council which shows that 50 per cent of people wait until their bed actually breaks before investing in a new model.
Classic Bed Company is the UK's premier bed store for ultimate comfort and luxury offering Tempur, Vi Spring, Willis and Gambier, and French Sleigh beds.
