A new survey has revealed that a disturbingly high percentage of Australian women are experiencing extreme tiredness on a daily basis.
The Newspoll research, which examined the sleeping habits of 1,036 women, aged between 18 and 54, found that 90 per cent reported often being so tired they would become clumsy and forgetful.
Clinical hematologist Dr James Biggs, at the University of New South Wales, called the results "incredible" and attributed them to hectic lifestyle factors such as childcare, work and financial worries.
He added: "As well as that, there are a number of medical conditions [that can cause sleep deprivation] like viral infections, hormonal disturbances particularly of the thyroid gland, and iron deficiency."
A further 80 per cent of those surveyed stated fatigue was often responsible for their experiencing mood swings, while 64 per cent blame their tiredness for not feeling attractive and 57 per cent would rather sleep than have sex.
While a Tempur memory foam or Vi Springmattress cannot make the kids go to bed on time, they alleviate natural pressure points in the body, increasing the chances of a soothing night's sleep.
