The curse of the waterbed continues, as a dissatisfied customer consigns it to history - electing a Tempurbed as a replacement.
Dubbed the Pleasure Pit upon its mainstream introduction in 1967, it seems the waterbed is no longer the best option for former customers finding that age brings with it a new set of bed needs, the Colorado Springs Gazette reports.
Ex-waterbed lover Steve Windom tells the newspaper: "I like the feel of a water mattress, but I switched to Tempur-Pedic because I need support for my back."
"We had lots of problems with leaks and whatever [and] we decided it was time to move on to something else," he adds.
It would appear Mr Windom is not the only person making the switch, as figures show waterbed sales have plummeted from $2 billion-worth (£1 billion) 15 years ago to less than $50 million in 2007, the newspaper states.
Waterbeds were recently rated the eighth worst home feature of all time in a survey by Churchill Home Insurance.
Classic Bed Company is the UK's premier bed store for ultimate comfort and luxury offering Tempur, Vi Spring, Willis and Gambier and French Sleigh beds.
