Westchester, New York's Furniture Sharehouse furniture bank launched its second annual Mattresses for Moms campaign yesterday (April 29th).
The mattress fundraising drive was launched last year and raised over $15,000 (£7,621) in order to provide beds and bedding for families affected by major flooding in the Sound Shore region, according to Furniture World magazine
Director of Furniture Sharehouse Kate Bialo explained the need for a further event to the magazine, stating: "There is still an urgent need for beds for our clients, many of whom are moving out of shelters and are faced with sleeping on the floor."
Caring community members are asked to make a donation to the campaign in honour of Mother's Day, while the Westchester Community Foundation has set a $5,000 matching challenge grant to encourage donations.
Tempurbeds recently launched a charitable campaign of their own, donating its memory foam mattresses to a Kentucky hospice for the benefit of patients.
