New research in honour of Better Sleep Month has revealed that a new mattress may be the key to long and healthy sleep.
A survey of 1,000 people sponsored by the Better Sleep Council (BSC) found that respondents getting less than the recommended healthy amount of sleep each night are more likely to be sleeping on mattresses over four years old, PRNewswire reports.
BSC spokesperson Karin Dillenger is quoted as saying: "Just as we need the proper equipment to get the best workout, we also need the proper equipment to get the best night's sleep - most importantly, a quality mattress."
Those sleeping on mattresses less than four years old were shown by the survey to get more sleep and engage in more physical activities, such as running and aerobics, reaffirming the link between good sleep and good health, according to the website.
Memory foam mattresses, which form part of the Tempurbeds range, have been shown to decrease back and neck pain and are used by several major celebrities, such as Brad Pitt, to enhance good sleep.
