The city of Gretna, New England, US, will hold its annual Spring Clean-Up Day on May 3rd, where hundreds of mattresses will be ousted in favour of new models.
From 07:00 local time, residents of the city will be able to offload their household junk at the city's Shamrock Concrete Company, which will take most items, including unwanted toys, clothes, dishwashers, beds and mattresses, the Gretna Breeze reports.
All city-dwellers have to do is get the rubbish to the drop-off, separate it and go - although larger items such as refrigerators and car tyres will not be accepted, according to the newspaper.
The mass mattress clear-out will give many Gretna residents the opportunity to offload their lumpy old mattresses and invest in a new luxury brand - such as a Tempur memory foam model or pocket-spring Vi-Spring brand.
The National Sleep Council in the UK recommends buying a new mattress at least once every ten years, while also carrying out a regular bed MOT.
Classic Bed Company is the UK's premier bed store for ultimate comfort and luxury offering Tempur, Vi Spring, Willis and Gambier and French Sleigh beds.
