A new survey has linked good sleep with improved physical performance, be it at work, in the gym, or in the bedroom.
While an increasing number of Americans claim to resort to caffeine or supplements to improve their physical prowess, many are neglecting the benefits of an altogether simpler solution - a good night's sleep on a good mattress.
Sleep researcher Dr Beth Jackson states: "Sleeping better and longer leads to improvements in athletic performance, [
.] better endurance, lower heart rate and even improved mood and higher levels of energy during a workout."
The Better Sleep Council survey of 1,000 people supports this assertion, with results showing respondents who managed nine or more hours of sleep a night were likely to participate in higher-intensity workouts.
