Stay in bed if you are ill, workers advised
Rather than drag themselves from the comfort of their Tempurbed, workers who are genuinely ill should tuck in their guilt and stay away from the office.
That is the advice of the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (Acas), which suggested that employees should not be made to feel guilty about staying in bed if they are too sick to come to work.
Those that do have an illness could in fact make themselves worse by coming into work, Acas' head of good practice services Gill Trevelyn warned.
Even worse for employers, having sick staff at work could result in the spread of infections - which may mean even more workers taking time off.
Nevertheless, if people do decide to stay warm in their contemporary beds and stay away from the office, they should at least keep their employer informed.
