Couples 'abandon double beds for sleep'
Couples are following in the footsteps of celebrity cinema couple Tim Burton and Helena Bonham-Carter and sleeping separately to make sure they get some proper rest at night, it has been claimed.
While partners are not going as far as sleeping in separate houses, many are giving up their double beds in favour of good quality sleep, the Daily Express reports.
A survey from sleeping tablets firm Sominex reveals that a quarter of couples sleep in separate beds sometimes, with 40 per cent of these people blaming snoring and 24 per cent nightime fidgeting.
Jessica Alexander of the Sleep Council said: "We have always found snoring to be a major cause of sleepless nights for couples."
She added that getting a good night's sleep can be more important for maintaining a relationship than sharing a double bed.
The British Snoring & Sleep Apnoea Association reports a number of possible factors that can cause snoring, from overeating to smoking and sleeping position.
Couples hoping to stay the night together and still get some rest may benefit from a double bed from Tempur that adjusts to their individual sleeping posture for better quality sleep.
