Sleep problems 'can damage relationships'
People who have difficulty sleeping could also be causing damage to their relationships, it has been claimed
With a fifth of Britons feeling more tired on a Monday than they did in the previous week, accumulated sleeplessness can result in increased quarrels with partners who may also be sleep-deprived, the Times reports.
"As people hope to be able to spend between a quarter and a third of their life sleeping, and mood and performance are dependent on a good night's sleep, insomnia is never a trivial problem, the paper said.
It adds that even wonderful relationships can be undermined by fidgeting in bed, snoring or repeatedly getting up to make a drink or fix a snack.
The paper notes that melatonin could be a cure for some sleep problems.
In January 2007, Dr Laura Berman told MSNBC snoring can be a "big relationship divider".
A Vi Spring bed uses pocket spring technology that can take the pressure off the joints and aid restful sleep - and potentially help a relationship.
