Psychologist says school day should start later

An Australian adolescent psychologist has claimed the school day should start later and finish later so that students arrive feeling refreshed and ready for the day ahead, the Herald Sun has reported.

Michael Carr-Gregg said teenagers have different body-clocks to adults and he stated, although current school hours might suit parents, teachers and bus companies, it was time to start thinking about the students.

This comes after one school in Melbourne has started keeping track of latecomers by scanning barcodes attached to their school bags.

Meanwhile, as the end of the summer holidays draw closer, the National Sleep Foundation has suggested that parents who have let bedtimes slip should start getting their children back into their normal sleep routine about ten days to two weeks before school starts again.

Youngsters who struggle to get to sleep at night may find a Vi Spring mattress makes all the difference as it is designed to allow for the perfect alignment of the body.
