How you sleep 'reveals something of your personality'

The position you sleep in while in bed at night might reveal something of your personality, one doctor claims.

Talking to CBS 3, Doctor Damon Salzman explained some of the key sleeping positions and what they mean.

He said the most common position people assume in bed is the foetal position and these people tend to have tough exteriors but are sensitive inside.

Meanwhile, people who sleep on their back with their hands at the side in the soldier position tend to be quiet and reserved.

Arms above the head is known as the starfish position and these people are good listeners.

People who fall asleep on their front in the free fall position are prone to be talkative and thin-skinned.

Those who sleep on their side in the log position are trusting but gullible.

And finally, 'yearners' who sleep on their side with their arms stuck out are usually suspicious or cynical.

However, Fred Jaffe from the Temple Sleep Disorder Centre is not convinced by the theory.

He stated: "People sleep in different positions throughout the entire night."
