Credit crunch 'is stopping workers sleeping'

The current economic situation may be causing people to sleep less, according to a new survey.

Internet company Audible.co.uk asked 2,000 workers about their shut-eye patterns and found that a tenth of people take more than one hour to actually sleep after they get into bed.

The Press Association reported that long and stressful days were the cause of staying awake, while Sky News described the problem as work-related concerns.

Either way, the current credit crunch may also be to blame, as many people face rising bills and higher living costs.

However, it is widely believed that enough restful sleep can lead to a calmer day and increased productivity.

For those who are having trouble getting to sleep, then a new bed or mattress could help, as could soothing music or a cup of cocoa before bedtime.

Some also find that a spritz of lavender-infused water can help to aid helpful sleep.
