After 50 years of marriage 'couple swap sides in bed'

A couple from South Africa are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary by swapping the side of the bed they sleep on, according to the South African Times.

George and Ellen Ramsey claimed they were making the change to get them out of well-worn habits.

The couple announced their plans to family and friends at a dinner to celebrate their anniversary.

Speaking to the Times, Ms Ramsey said: "We told them that I would now be sleeping on the right-hand side and George would be switching to the left."

"It caused quite a stir," she added.

The couple have not changed sides of the bed since their wedding night in a hotel in Durban on September 1st 1958.

Ms Ramsey said it was no good for them to get stuck in their ways.

She stated switching sides of the bed was just the start as the couple had decided they needed to begin taking a few risks and trying new things.
