Olympic athlete chooses Tempur mattress
An Olympic athlete has commented on how a Tempur mattress helped him ensure his back was always in good shape.
Canadian Adam van Koeverden won a silver medal in the 500m kayak race at the Beijing Olympics, the Associated Press reports.
However, before the Athens Olympics in 2004 he was training in Australia with no money and sleeping on a three-inch mattress on a concrete floor.
This was before he was given the assistance of Jane Roos, a former heptathlete, who founded the Canadian Athletes Now (Can) Fund, to financially support sportsmen and women while they are training.
With funding Van Koeverden went to Florida to train and it was here he made the decision to invest in a good mattress.
"I bought a Tempur-Pedic (mattress) because my back's important," he said.
"If my back's not straight when I wake up in the morning I'm not going to be able to move my boat very fast," Van Koeverden added.
Tempur mattresses use materials that fit the contours of the body to relieve pressure when sleeping. This can help to ease back pain, according to Tempur.
