'Tempur mattresses help those with arthritis'

September is Arthritis Awareness month and for sufferers a Tempur mattress is a way to make living with the disease more manageable.

The Arhtritis Friendly programme in Canada has just approved five Tempur mattresses as being arthritis-friendly products after passing a series of tests carried out by people with the illness.

A Tempur mattress is a pressure-relieving surface, helping arthritis sufferers by increasing blood circulation and reducing pressure points while they are sleeping.

Rose-Ann Nathan, vice president of Tempur Canada, said she was "proud" that the products had been approved.

"We strive to make Tempur-Pedic a name that is synonymous with a healthy well being," she added.

The National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society says that 0.8 per cent of the UK adult population suffer from rheumatoid arthritis. As well as causing pain in joints such as wrists, hands and feet, it can also affect internal organs.
