Sleep routines for 'larks' and 'owls'
Larks and owls, the names for the two categories of sleeping patterns, have been given advice on the best ways to get into a routine that won't leave them feeling tired.
Because of career and family restrictions many people are not able to sleep at the times they may like, according to the Irish Independent.
It says larks like to get up early and are tired in the evening, whereas owls get a boost of energy later in the day.
Larks should take a short nap during the afternoon, and exercise and avoid alcohol in the evenings. If they want to stay up late they are advised to get fresh air and lots of daylight, says the Irish Independent newspaper.
Owls should expose themselves to bright light then eat breakfast and drink some fruit juice when waking. They should avoid napping, exercise in the early afternoon and eat a light evening meal.
It is also important for them to wake using an alarm clock and restrict internet use to early evenings.
A Tempur mattress can also aid a good night's sleep, as its memory foam material moulds to fit the contours of the body.
