'People take PDAs to bed'

Some people would rather take their personal digital assistant (PDA) to bed with them than their partner, research shows.

In a new work-life survey by Sheraton Hotels and Resorts in America, 87 per cent of people asked said they take their PDAs into the bedroom when they are going to sleep.

A further 85 per cent said they have a look at them in the middle of the night and 84 per cent check them as soon as they wake up.

The research also revealed that 37 per cent of professionals said they would rather take their PDA to bed with them than their spouse.

The Sleep Council advises people to "deal with worries or a heavy workload by making lists of things to be tackled the next day".

It also suggests that working should be restricted to other areas of the house instead of the bedroom. It recommends that a bed should only be used for sleeping.
