Home diagnosis test for sleep apnoea sufferers

A new portable device which claims to be able to diagnose sleep apnoea has been declared as very reliable, according to a new study.

The Holter oximeter can used to determine whether both surgical and non-surgical treatments for sleep apnoea have been successful for sufferers, Medical News Today reported.

Research was conducted by researchers with the New York Otolaryngology Group and tested 120 participants with the device over a period of four months.

On average patients reported a comfort score of two out of ten, with one being the highest, leading scientists to claim the success of the device.

The NHS describes sleep apnoea as a condition where a person's breathing is interrupted while they are in bed. This causes them to drift between different phases of sleep, often making them feel tired and un-rested during the day.
