Naps boost work performance on night shifts
Workers on night shifts will improve their performance if they are able to have short naps, according to new research.
Nicole Lovato, a researcher from Flinders University, Australia, told ABC News that a 30-minute nap at 2.30am has significant benefits.
Her research reportedly revealed that people felt less sleepy than if they didn't have a nap at all.
"We've also found that their cognitive performance is better than if they didn't have the nap and we've also found that objectively that they're less sleepy," Ms Lovato said.
But the sleep expert added that sleepiness is dangerous, because micro sleeps caused by tiredness reduce an individuals reaction time to stimulus.
Those who value their shuteye might consider Vi-Spring beds which are built individually by hand, with the intention of producing luxurious sleep.
Workers needing to catch up on sleep during the day hours could also consider Tempur beds which have been shown to reduce stress and sleep problems.
