Tempur-Pedic

The company that produces and distributes Tempur products; these include; mattresses, pillows, lumbar support and travel products.

Tempur-Med

A division of the Tempur Company that supplies the healthcare industry with memory foam products.

Memory Foam

Memory foam is comprised of polyurethane with additional chemicals to boost its viscosity level and density. It is also referred to as visco-elastic polyurethane foam. To provide maximum pressure relief and support the Tempur foam undergoes thermal augmentation, becoming warmer and softer in areas of higher pressure and cooler and harder where less pressure is applied.

Polyurethane foam base

This is the high density mattress base onto which the Tempur material is secured. The ratio of polyurethane foam base to Tempur material present in your mattress depends on the model you order; please see the website for details.

Tempur

Tempur is the specific type of memory foam originally developed by NASA for the space program to help astronauts cope with the excessive G-force during liftoff. The foam was later developed for commercial use by Swedish company Dan-Foam.

Tempur pillow

Tempur pillows are designed to allow for maximum neck support due to their anatomically correct shape. The open cells allow air to circulate through the pillow and provide appropriate ventilation to your head and neck.

Removable cover

Refers to the valour cover which comes with all Tempur mattresses; the cover is removable, machine washable as well as anti-mite and anti allergy tested.

Mattress foundation

Refers to the flat rigid surface the Tempur mattress must be placed upon in order to achieve maximum support. Mattress foundations can come in many shapes and sizes including; adjustable beds, waterbed frames, platform beds and the specially constructed Tempur-Pedic foundation.
