The company produces its own springs, which are then individually sewn into calico pockets. These pockets are then joined together to form the basis of the mattress. The fact that the pockets are joined whilst the springs are unconnected means that each spring is able to respond individually to changes in movement and weight distribution throughout the night. Hand-stitching around the edges adds strength to the mattress so that it doesn't sag easily from people sitting on the edge of the bed, or rip when the mattress is turned or moved.
