What do the ratings mean?
• Red: Manufacturers which have told Greenpeace that their products
contain harmful chemical pollutants or that have not responded or refused
to supply Greenpeace with the requested information.
• Yellow: The product may still contain harmful chemical but the
company has committed to phase them out.
• Green: The manufacturer, such as vi-spring, has informed Greenpeace
that their products do not contain harmful chemical pollutants.
It has to be stated that a green rating does not mean that in the view
of Greenpeace the product is completely safe or that it has no impact
on the environment. It does mean that as far as they have been able to
ascertain it is free from "chemicals of very high concern"
- that is to say substances that persist in the environment; build
up in the human body, may cause cancer, damage genetic material, damage
the reproductive system or disrupt the hormone system.

What chemicals?
Vi-spring mattresses do not contain brominated flame retardants or chlorinated
paraffins; chemical which have been identified by Greenpeace as potentially
